Leopard prints, the meow-worthy wardrobe staple

Updated: Dec 20, 2019

Leopard print coat has been labeled as a winter wardrobe staple by Vogue UK. It’s been a trend ever since 1920s. Bazaar traced down the evolution of leopard prints and selected some iconic pieces throughout its 90 year history. (I love how the author Kristen named animal prints as meow-worthy, so I stole her idea and used it in my title too teehee.)

Speaking of leopard prints, my first impression would be high heels, stockings and some edgy red lip looks. Leopard print fur coats (FAUX FUR PLEASE!) used to be a signifier for trophy wife only, as a sign of wealth and high fashion taste. But now more fashion gurus are pairing it up with sporty and casual looks.

One classic look of leopard print coat would be from Kate Moss, the reigning queen of cool, in which she wore it with a supreme shirt.

The other favorite looks are from my favorite fashion Youtuber/Blogger Lwany (@lwany).

Her videos are so aesthetic and pleasing, check them out if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kllXU7KQRdw

However I think perfect leopard prints are really hard to find, as hard as finding a perfect white cotton T-shirt. Don’t worry though cuz I’ve found a few perfect pieces for you. Some of these might be sold out already since it’s off season.

To wrap up, I’d like to quote Jo Weldon, a writer and entertainer, on her comment about leopard prints. “The pattern designed to help these dangerous animals blend in was one that a woman used to stand out. She's not necessarily saying that she is a predator, but she sure isn't prey.”
